What is Medical Insurance?
Medical insurance pays for treatment at hospitals and clinics, from consultations and tests to surgery and hospital stays. With a network plan you show your card at a network hospital or clinic in Oman, and the insurer settles the bill directly, after any co-payment.
Employers in Oman usually provide health cover for their staff, but limits are often basic and families are not always included. We help you choose a plan for yourself, your spouse, your children or your parents, and compare networks, limits and benefits side by side.
Who it’s for
- Self-employed people and business owners
- Families covering a spouse, children or parents
- Residents who want more than their employer’s plan

Frequently asked questions
Do I need my own medical insurance if my employer covers me?
Not always. Many employer plans have basic limits and may not cover your family. A personal plan or a top-up can fill the gaps. We can review your current cover with you.
Ask an advisorCan I add my parents to my policy?
Many insurers in Oman cover parents, subject to age limits and a medical declaration. Premiums are usually higher for older members. We will check which insurers accept them.
Ask an advisorWhat is a hospital network?
It is the list of hospitals and clinics where your insurer settles bills directly. Using a network provider means less paperwork and fewer out-of-pocket costs.
Ask an advisorAre pre-existing conditions covered?
It depends on the insurer and plan. Some cover declared conditions after a waiting period, others exclude them. Always declare them, so your claims are not refused later.
Ask an advisorIs there a waiting period for maternity?
Usually yes, often several months from the policy start date. We will show you the waiting periods for each plan before you choose.
