What is Motor Insurance?
Motor insurance pays for the cost of accidents involving your vehicle. In Oman, at least third-party liability cover is compulsory to drive legally, and comprehensive cover adds protection for your own car as well.
The right policy depends on the age and value of your vehicle, where you drive and how you use it. We explain the options in plain language and help you compare them side by side.
Who it’s for
- New and used car owners
- Drivers renewing an expiring policy
- Families with more than one vehicle
- Owners who drive off-road or on long trips

Frequently asked questions
Is motor insurance compulsory in Oman?
Yes. At least third-party liability insurance is required to drive a vehicle legally. Comprehensive cover is optional but protects your own car too.
Ask an advisorWhat is the difference between third-party and comprehensive cover?
Third-party cover pays for damage or injury you cause to others. Comprehensive cover also pays for damage to your own vehicle, subject to the policy terms.
Ask an advisorDoes my policy cover off-road driving?
Usually not unless it is specifically added. If you drive on wadi tracks or desert terrain, tell us so we can look for suitable cover.
Ask an advisorWhat should I do after an accident?
Make sure everyone is safe, follow the requirements for reporting the accident, take photos, and contact us. We will guide you through the claim.
Ask an advisorCan I add another driver?
Many insurers allow additional drivers, sometimes for an extra premium. We can check the options for you.
